Argentine public TV launches a new series: Ser ESENCIAL
"Ser ESENCIAL" is a testimonial documentary series, especially produced for Public Television by the production company Pastoral Villera, which portrays a specific moment of a person or their group, immersed in the problems of the neighborhoods and the emergency population within the framework of the Covid-19 pandemic. This population are volunteers from soup kitchens, religious, lay people, nurses, doctors, lawyers, young people in addiction recovery, and others.

Diego Alonso in the conduction, the idea and the script by Walter Peña, the content advice of Father José María “Pepe” Di Paola and the direction of Nicolás Cuiñas.
Where do the stories happen?
In community kitchens, parishes, addiction recovery farms, neighborhood centers, transfer units for patients, health units in popular neighborhoods, homes for grandparents, among others.
Who are the protagonists?
The humblest who intertwine and reconvert their deficiencies into solidarity, their anguish into hope. And the concrete faces appear: Mirna Florentín, director of the “Amigos del Padre Pepe” dining room in Villa 21 in Barracas; Marcelo on dialysis. He is a recovered addict who is now part of the team that works at the Centro Barrial Gaucho Antonio Gil, in José León Suárez; Ricardo Paiva is a doctor from Entre Ríos who came to La Matanza due to the vicissitudes of life. His arrival appears to have been at the exact moment this pandemic began.
