Audiovisual Inclusion
With a successful call and great enthusiasm among the participants, Cine Mundo Chico developed the Audiovisual Production for Digital Communication workshop in La Matanza, Argentina.
From the beginning of September 2021, Cine Mundo Chico began the Audiovisual Production for Digital Communication workshop, which will run until the end of November. The space chosen to carry out this proposal had its complexities: located in an enclave in the heart of Matanza, the San José parish, -whose radius of influence includes Villa Palito, Saint Petersburg, Puerta de Hierro-, coordinates pastoral actions and social inclusion together with neighboring chapels and parishes: San Expedito, La Medalla Milagrosa.
The pastoral objectives are concrete: to accompany and make the message of Jesus one's own, carrying out works of faith, hope, love...this is the parish ideology.
María Florencia Carballo, a reference in the neighborhood, is coordinator of the youth group of the San José parish. She tells us about the environment and the characteristics of the pastoral actions that take place there: this is “a space designed for the youth of the neighborhood with a view focused specifically on vulnerable adolescents and youth. In the words of Father Tano: “The most broken youths”. Our job is to be able to get closer to those young people.”
Interpreting this spirit of solidarity and inclusion, the development of this Audiovisual Production workshop led by Professor Gustavo Winkler, member of Signis, experienced teacher and filmmaker graduated from ENERC, was given impetus. (National School of Cinematographic Experimentation and Realization) and UNSAM (Universidad Nacional de Gral. San Martín) the activity is projected in this direction by providing the means for boys and girls to tell their stories, strengthen themselves as a group, rescue neighborhood and community memory. …
With an educommunicative perspective, the course aimed to train adolescents and young people to increase their digital knowledge and creative talent, both from critical reflection and from the production of various formats, so that, with practice in the use of these audiovisual tools, they can express themselves , and disseminate the proposals, actions and reflections of their respective communities.
The call was successful: more than 40 registered, with face-to-face and effective assistance. The ages of the attendees ranged between 13 and 20 years old…this imposed an extra challenge: rethinking the actions and methodological resources to respond to the demands of a heterogeneous population.
In the words of María Florencia, the parish leaders also faced similar difficulties, which meant adapting and “opening the game”: - At first it was difficult, but we offered the proposal of a snack, games and getting to know each other. Each one was bringing his mate, we made tereré and in this way the pastoral proposal grew - in small doses - to be able to approach us from that perspective. The pastoral part goes hand in hand, but it is not an impediment to sharing the space. It is to understand San Expedito in the place where we are as a home, a space of our own and to generate community among young people... who are used to being on the street, to being in drug and crime environments.”
With 4 guest trainers, former students of the workshops taught by Prof. Winkler - experts in camera and post production, acting and dance, audiovisual production teaching and youth coordination - with a novel dynamic, the groups worked with enthusiasm and committed themselves with your support and participation. Different neighborhood referents also collaborated, linked to the social activities carried out in the parish radio.
So that the actions have continuity over time, Cine Mundo Chico has equipped the parishes involved in this Project with two mini projectors so that the attendees continue to express their ideas and communicate the experiences of their belonging groups. The effort is very great, but the achievements and enthusiasm of the attendees fill this team with satisfaction.
Florence and this community of San José, added to the actions of Signis from commitment and empathy, give us testimony of this Church on the way out, welcoming the other how and where he is… this is the Church that Francis asks for!
