Mexico City.- “Introduction to the rights of audiences and their advocates in Mexico” is the title of the radio series that aims to educate and train people interested in assuming the commitment to defend audiences. The series is a production of the Ombudsman for Radio Education Audiences and endorsed by the UNESCO Chair in Communication and Society; the Institute for Research and Studies in Human Rights Culture, CULTURA DH; the Mexican Association of Public Defenders, AMDA and the World Association of Community Radios, Mexico chapter, AMARC.

The radio series is available from Wednesday, August 5, through the platforms and stations of Radio Educación. By listening and commenting on each chapter of this series, a digital record of listening can be obtained by anyone interested in the topic that collaborates with the most participatory, democratic and plural media construction and whose key objective is to bring audiences closer to their rights and the functions of the ombudsmen.

The ten chapters, which are part of the series, have a duration of half an hour each and are broadcast during the program of the Ombudsman's Office of Radio Education, on Wednesdays at 5:00 p.m., in a skipped manner, approximately two a month , one every 22 days; from the first Wednesday of August to the end of December 2020.

The agenda of the ten chapters consists of an introduction to the subject; what is freedom of expression and the right to information; the responsibilities of the media; brief history of the rights of hearings; the ombudsmen in the Federal Law on Telecommunications and Broadcasting; what are expressly the rights of the hearings; what is the ideal profile of defenders; recent news on the subject and concrete experiences of defenders.

Among the specialists in human rights, defense counsel and Communication that will be in the programs are: Rosy Laura Castellanos Mariano, Manuel Alejandro Guerrero, María Lizárraga Iriarte, Magdalena López Rocha, Laura Gabriela Martínez Aguila, Jerónimo Repoll, Beatriz Solís Leere , Adriana Solórzano Fuentes, Gabriel Sosa Plata, Ana Cecilia Terrazas (current defender of the hearings of Radio Education and coordinator of the project), Raúl Trejo Delarbre, Irina Vázquez Zurita and Lilia Vélez Iglesias.
