Is peace of heart possible?

"Means for a culture of peace" is the cause for which we are committed at SIGNIS. Therefore, it is only fitting that we share the pages of this final issue of 2020 with our sister organization, Pax Christi International, the Catholic peace movement. We are united by a common vision of peace, rooted in the Church's social doctrine: peace is the fruit of justice, reconciliation and respect for human rights. In such a way that in our world, in current times and perhaps more than ever, peace can only be achieved through action. Thus, a culture of peace is built through efforts to prevent extractive industries from destroying the planet and indigenous peoples. It is created by offering alternatives to the recruitment of young people by armed groups as a remedy for unemployment. It is due to inexhaustible negotiations in favor of disarmament. In our relationships, our society, and our world, it means choosing non-violent ways to resolve conflict. In all this work there is a place for stories of hope, both to encourage those who are committed to this cause and to invite others to join. These narratives communicate the Good News.
